Chaotic orbits for spinning particles in Schwarzschild spacetime

We consider the orbits of particles with spin in the Schwarzschild spacetime. Using the PapapetrouDixon equations of motion for spinning particles, we solve for the orbits and focus on those that exhibit chaos using both Poincaré maps and Lyapunov exponents. In particular, we develop a method for comparing the Lyapunov exponents of chaotic orbits. We find chaotic orbits for smaller spin values ...

Wormholes in spacetime with torsion

Analytical wormhole solutions in U4 theory are presented. It is also discussed whether the introduction of extremely short range repulsive forces, related to the spin angular momentum of matter, could be the “carrier” of exoticity that threads the wormhole throat. Spacetime Defects: Torsion Loops

Spacetimes with everywhere vanishing curvature tensor, but with tor-sion different from zero only on world sheets that represent closed loops in ordinary space are presented, also defects along open curves with end points at infinity are studied. The case of defects along timelike loops is also considered and the geodesics in these spaces are briefly discussed.

Stochastic Spacetime and Brownian Motion of Test Particles

Abstract The operational meaning of spacetime fluctuations is discussed. Classical spacetime geometry can be viewed as encoding the relations between the motions of test particles in the geometry. By analogy, quantum fluctuations of spacetime geometry can be interpreted in terms of the fluctuations of these motions. Thus one can give meaning to spacetime fluctuations in terms of observables whi...

In Search of the Spacetime Torsion

Whether torsion plays or not a role in the description of the gravitational interaction is a problem that can only be solved by experiment. This is, however, a difficult task: since there are different possible interpretations for torsion, there is no a model–independent way to look for it. In these notes, two different possibilities will be reviewed, their consistency analyzed, and the corresp...
